The Problem with Most Detergents:
All laundry detergents leave a residue on clothing, which is absorbed by our skin (and inhaled). The ill effects of some of the chemicals in detergents range from skin or eye irritation, skin allergies to something that could be much more serious, such as endocrine disruption, some ingredients are even considered potential carcinogens.

What’s in Tide?:
Because of “trade secrets,” manufacturers are not required to disclose what’s in their detergent, so the ingredient list is usually vague and not very helpful.

Conventional laundry soap generally contain the following:

1. Synthetic detergents – which are often made of petrochemicals
2. Fragrance – beloved, delicious, and totally toxic (which usually contains phthalates)
3. Bleach – which contains chlorine (an environmental toxin–and possibly a carcinogen and endocrine disruptor
4. Phenols – established endocrine disruptors, of which BPA is the most notorious
5. Optical brighteners – which are often made from benzene, a definite carcinogen
6. Phosphates – which break down minerals and render detergent more effective, but with harmful environmental ramifications

Hazardous Detergents:
A 2008 study found that of all the top selling laundry detergent brands tested, each contained at least one ingredient
considered hazardous under federal law. None of these ingredients was listed on the label and the study didn’t disclose which brands were tested—annoying, I know!

Ingredients:

Tea Tree Soap: the Tea Tree Oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties, the soap helps to gel everything together and make your Laundry Liquid Detergent amazing!!

Borax: improves the cleaning power of detergent, help remove tough stains, and deodorize and freshen. Borax is also a natural alternative to ColorSafe Bleach, and naturally softens hard water.

Washing Soda: Sodium Carbonate (aka Washing Soda or Soda Ash) is a highly alkaline substance that’s unique chemical composition makes it excellent for household uses like degreasing, brightening and cleaning tough messes. It scores an exceptional safety rating from the Environmental Working Group with the lowest level of concern about its use in
household settings and the only warning being to use it safely as you would any highly alkaline substance (not undiluted on skin, not consuming large amounts, etc.).

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil: Besides giving a wonderful smell to your clothes it is an Antidepressant and an Antiseptic to speed up the healing of wounds.
